What is a custom commission? What kinds of things can I request?
A custom commission is a work of art that you and I design together that is unique to you or the recipient. You choose the city (or multiple cities if you'd like), the landmarks, the colors, and any other special details you want included. For a general idea of what can be done, explore the art on this site. Roughly speaking, commissions are divided into three categories:

How much does a commission cost?
The cost of the commission depends on the complexity of the design, the size of the piece, whether you get it framed, and where it's being shipped to. For context, a classic skyline piece ~1m x 30cm typically runs about £700 before shipping or framing. A non-refundable deposit equal to 50% of the painting's price secures your commission! When it's time to ship your new work of art to you or the lucky recipient, you'll pay the other 50% plus shipping and framing (optional).
Note, if you're local to the Suffolk area, I can typically drop the piece off to you at no charge if you'd like!
How long does a commission take?
Commissions generally take at least 3 months to finish (often longer) in part because I generally have a long queue of commission requests. And in part because it's so important to get things right! If the commission is a gift for a birthday or anniversary that's coming up soon, I will try to get a sketch out before the event that you can give to them so they have something tangible on the big day.
What does the process look like?
When you're ready to discuss a commission, message me on Facebook or Instagram (you can send messages through this site) or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include the following:
- An example piece or two of mine that gives me a sense of what you'd like this to look like
- The city or cities you'd like to include
- Any timeline constraints (like upcoming birthday, anniversary, etc)
And don't be shy about reaching out to discuss cost. There's no obligation on your part, and I promise I won't be offended if you ultimately decide against a commission piece. I'd much rather we had a chance to talk about it than not.
If you decide to proceed with a commission, you'll send in your non-refundable 50% deposit to secure your spot on the list! From there, we can start talking about basics like which city (or cities) you want to feature, which specific landmarks should be there, the color, the size, etc. And when it's time for me to work on your piece, I'll send you a sketch first to make sure you're happy with it!
And when it's finished, you'll pay your final 50% of the price of your new art, plus shipping and any framing you requested. And then it gets sent to its new home, right where it belongs!
